The word Performance comes from the English verb “to perform” which means performance, performance, perform, complete, execute, achievement or performance.

On many occasions it is used in the context of exhibitions in public, or when someone performs some role in the artistic field, as an actor, for example.

Performance can also be the set of results obtained in a certain test or exam by a person.

 

In the sporting context, the performance of an athlete or a team is related to their performance or sporting achievement.

Example: “Not much was expected of the team, but after a fantastic performance / performance, they managed to win the game.”

Sports performance training is a practice that strengthens the body and mind to prepare the athlete for the rigors of a specific sport.

It differs from personal training in that the athlete is conditioned and adequately prepared to compete in his sport of choice, rather than a broader general fitness.

Individual characteristics, such as age, sex and fitness level, are combined with scientifically proven training methods and exercises to create a customized and specific training plan for the sport that results in a more confident and motivated athlete.

The objective is to improve the performance of the athlete in competition using the latest advances in sports science and kinesiology to develop a program of conditioning and specific sports strengthening that improves athletes’ general athleticism: strength, agility, speed, power, coordination and balance as It is related to the sport in which they compete.

 

A program that includes sports training should be developed specifically for that sport.

This type of training usually includes wide ranges of agility, power and speed training.

There is a lot of emphasis in the planes of movement, such as advancing (sagittal), turning back (transverse) and sideways (frontal). You will not see many static stretches in which you hold a stretch for 20 seconds.

 

You will see more dynamic stretches, such as high jumps or triple-flex movements, such as throwing a medicine ball by turning to the side.

Although the title declares athletic performance, it does not mean that an ordinary average person can not include this in their routines.

This type of exercise is very fun and really makes the adrenaline pump all over the body.

Try to include some sports performance movements in your next training session.

For example, a volleyball player who participates in sports performance training will perform exercises that mimic the movement patterns required in the volleyball court.

It will focus on reaction, balance, vertical jump, agility and high-intensity interval training.

By modeling your training around the demands of your sport, you will develop the specific skills necessary to excel in the competition.

Over time, through coaching and direction, the athlete naturally gains self-confidence by experiencing the results of their hard work, determination and commitment to their specific training regimen.

Knowing that they are physically prepared helps eliminate doubts and places the athlete in the best possible position to succeed in the chosen sports.

Whether you enjoy soccer, baseball, hockey or swimming, being in the best physical shape will improve your athletic performance and protect yourself from injuries.

Each sport comes with its own physical demands.

 

You may need training to maintain balance, flexibility or agility to help you perform at the top of your game.

There is a phrase that Jeremy Strom told me one of my favorite teachers, “Train the way you move in your daily life and your sport.”

As a personal fitness trainer I can put the strength routine to my clients but if they want to improve in their soccer or triathlon matches, they should go with a sports performance coach.
